Back to School!

We’re going to go back, back to school again. Have you ever seen Grease 2? I know a lot of people think that movie is cheesy but I don’t know, I kind of like it. Anyways, the opening song is completely relevant because as it always is in August, it’s back to school time. This is my last week of Summer break but I’m not doing anything wild. I’m not joking,I got braces yesterday, yes at 20 but it’s NEVER to late for straight teeth! My mouth hurts really bad though,so that’s not great but on to the more important than my ortho issues.

IMG_3891As it is back to school, I felt obligated to write out advice for school. I only have ONE piece of advice for school, well one that leads to a lot of smile pieces of advice. Get a planner and USE IT! Don’t do what I’ve been doing up until last year, buy super expensive planners that are super cute, keep them in your school bag and never use them or don’t use them on a constant basis. I literally NEVER used them or if I did, it was sporadically. Around a year ago, I started using an online and physical planner and I swear my life has been changed. I got mine from Target this year. It’s apart of the Sugar Paper LA collection. It’s simple yet it’s very pretty and has plenty of lined writing space, which I desperately need.Keeping a planner helps me clear my head when I’m feeling overwhelmed, which is super important for myself and most people. If I get overwhelmed and I’m not actively trying to face it head on, I will stop doing it. Which, I know doesn’t help at all, in fact it just makes it worst but I will get into my bed and watch Netflix, like a lot of other college students. Keeping everything organized and planned out makes it easier for me to process and keeps me motivated. Which leads to the next piece of advice!

Stay motivated! I’m kind of into motivational speaking, like TED Talks. I recently found a YouTube channel, it’s called Marie Forleo, run by Marie Forleo and she has these conversations with people who I admire, like Bryce Dallas Howard and Elizabeth Gilbert just about life. They’re not necessarily motivational but I love hearing about how far successful people have come to be who they are today. Hearing their ups and downs, the struggles they went through helps me stay motivated to keep working on who I want to become. In the words of Lana Del Rey, I believe in the person I want to become. I know it’s not going to be easy but it’ll be worth it and I’ll I have to do is push through the hard times, which I know is easier said then done.

I hope this helps motivates you this semester, I feel like I got a little bit off topic but it needs to be said, especially in relation to school. Enjoy the end of your summer and I hope you have a good semester! I hope you get all A’s and if you don’t, don’t worry! It’s just a bump in the road, again advice easier said then accepted.

Au Revoir!

Pssss. I’ll be posting about easy back to school style tricks and tips! Plus another playlist to get you up and out of bed in the morning. I know I need one before I go back.

Favorite Beauty Bloggers

I love, love, love Beauty Bloggers! I love them almost as much as I love fashion/ style bloggers because I love doing my makeup and taking care of my skin. I spend a fair amount of my time on YouTube watching Beauty tutorial and reviews and I spend more then a fair amount of money of beauty products. I know that there are a lot of beauty bloggers out there but I just wanted to share with you guys some of my favorite YouTbers to watch.

maxresdefault.jpgI know you’ve all probably heard of her but I LOVE Jaclyn Hill! I hadn’t heard about her until maybe a little bit over a year ago, shout out to Allison for showing me her videos. I’ve been watching her videos almost religiously since and I can’t believe I hadn’t seen her videos before. She’s amazing and although I’m not the same skin tone as her, I’ve learned so many things watching her channel! I’ve learned so many techniques, makeup and beauty tricks. She’s the first person I ever heard talk about Morphe and I haven’t turned back since. Besides being a makeup goddess, Jaclyn Hill is just a really good person. I follow her on Snapchat and she’s just a genuinely amazing person. She’s one of the first YouTubers I’ve seen, not that others haven’t done it before, that shut down their comments section because of the way their followers were treating each other. She just really wants everyone to do well and be happy with themselves. Plus she’s freaking hilarious and that never hurts.

maxresdefault-1.jpgMy second favorite YouTuber is Jackie Aina aka Jackie O, who is a must follow on Snapchat by the way. I’m not joking, I rarely use Snapchat but I’ve been on the app multiple times just to watch her because she’s so funny. When she’s not being funny on Snapchat, she’s giving real life lessons that always seem to come right when you need them. Jackie Aina is closer to my skin tone and gives a lot of beauty hacks on how to use products properly. Check out her color correcting do’s and don’ts video, it will save lives and money, I promise. Jackie Aina is a must follow for people who have darker skin tones because she really is a way to help find out what type of foundation you should be wearing as well as what your undertones are. After watching her videos, I found the right setting powder, blush, bronzer and foundation for my budget, which ranges depending on what time of the month it is.

13735876_1053299858090725_259467564_nLast but definitely not least is Thomas Halbert, who is probably my favorite person to follow on Twitter and Instagram. He does a lot of tutorials on Snapchat and is definitely more active on Instagram then YouTube.Thomas Halbert turns makeup into art, his diamond boy look killed me. I could never do the things he does with makeup. He truly has a gift. Jackie Aina and Jaclyn Hill are extremely talented as well but they do more everyday wearable makeup, which I love too! I know some people feel a certain type of way about boys who wear makeup but I don’t care. I admire anyone who wears makeup because I know how much time and effort it takes to do it. I mean honestly, look at that, that’s pure art work. If a boy wearing makeup makes you uncomfortable, just remember that all your favorite male actors wear makeup in every T.V. and film appearance you’ve seen then in. Then I invite you to move on to the more important issues in the world.

Thank you for learning about my favorite makeup bloggers! Share your favorite bloggers in the comments below! I’ll be sure to check them out because I’m always looking for new YouTubers to follow because at this point, I’m pretty sure I watch YouTube more than I do TV.

Au Revoir!

I was listening to Spotify while I wrote this and I wanted to share some of my current favorite songs! Some of them are new, a few are oldies but goodies. Give it a listen!

Must Watch List: The Future of Fashion

If you’re like me and love fashion, you’ve probably seen a fair amount of fashion documentaries. You’ve probably seen some of them multiple times, I can’t even count how many times I’ve seen the September Issue. I just love fashion documentaries. I love hearing how people like Anna Wintour, Grace Coddington, and Diana Vreeland became who they are.

Being that it’s not an industry that many people take seriously, it can be hard to find documentaries that aren’t only demonizing it. Not that those documentaries shouldn’t be watched.I believe that it’s important to educate yourself as much as possible on all aspects of an industry, especially one you want to go into. I was in the middle of one of these searches when I got distracted reading articles from Man Repeller and Vogue that came up on my twitter feed.

I’m happy I did because British Vogue, I follow various Vogue accounts because they all post different things and I want to take in as much information as possible, tweeted a link to the 1-hour version of Alexa Chungs docu-series, The Future of Fashion. I’ve known who Alexa Chung is for a couple of years but I don’t know much about her outside of her being a model, author of It, and a contributor to British Vogue. I clicked on the link because of the title and I don’t regret it.

Although the interviews are mostly conducted outside of the United States, I think it’s an amazing documentary for everyone to watch, even those who aren’t that interested in fashion. In the first series, she just posted out the first two videos of series two special focused on British Vogue, she covers various topics within the fashion industry from different jobs, to feminism, diversity and Body image. She also has interviews with designers like Molly Goddard and Olivier Rousteing, just to name a few.

The documentary or docu-series offers so much information and advice for anyone who wants to be apart of the fashion industry, as I do. As well as insight into the truth about the bad reputations that plague the community.

Below I’ve put a quote that really stood out to me while I was watching The Future of Fashion. It’s a very eloquent way of stating what I’ve been trying to verbalize since I was sixteen. I’ve seen almost all of the docu-series and I absolutely love it. I hope you all do too!

Au Revoir!

Pssss. I linked the full 1-hour documentary version in the second paragraph.

“Fashion has a reputation for being like, shallow, and all about image, and duh duh duh, but actually when you get to it, the reason that people are interested in it – the reason people have jobs within this industry is because it is emotional for everyone. it’s about identity, it’s about how you feel, it’s about creating a persona.”- Alexa Chung

My latest addiction:Youtube

I don’t know why but for the past couple of weeks, I’ve been spending an unhealthy amount of time on Youtube. I love Youtube because there is something for everyone on the website. It doesn’t matter what you’re into, makeup, fashion, cooking or even video games. My favorite Youtubers to watch are Becca Rose, Rachel Whitehurst, Patricia Bright and Shirley B. Eniang. I think they’re all a little bit similar, content wise but it’s their personalities that make the videos so addicting.

I love Becca Rose because she’s just so much fun! I love her color scheme and style. I like a lot of the things she likes and I do get a lot of inspiration from her channel. I think her obsession with her puppy, Rupert, is adorable. She’s so happy all the time and it always brightens up my day.

Rachel Whitehurst is one of the first Youtubers I really began following. I found out about her through a friend of mine. She sent my a video of her covering one of my favorite songs, Youth by Daughter and it was amazing. She also sent me a rant video from her with the caption, us everyday in class. It’s from four years ago and it’s about annoying people in class. It was so funny because she was just so honest, I instantly loved her. She also has super good reviews of new products as well as advice on how to deal with mental health and personal issues.

Patricia Bright has more of a fashion lifestyle blog. She gives really good advice on growing up and how to adjust to adult hood. Not just being an adult but how to get through being a teenager because it’s tough at times. I got into her videos because of her style hauls! I love her sense of fashion. I may not dress similarly to her but I really admire her style.

Shirley B. Eniang has her life together and watching her videos makes me feel like I have my life together and inspires me to do better. I love her makeup tutorials and her look books! She gives amazing career advice as well as life advice. She’s like the friend who always knows exactly the right thing to say.

I know there a TONS of amazing Youtubers on youtube but these are just a couple of my favorites and I’ll include links to their channels below!
