The year of glossy lips

If you’ve been following me for a while or if you know me in real life, you know, I wore red matte lipstick every day. My sister bought me NARS red lizard for my sixteenth birthday and I was addicted. Recently, I’ve been leaning towards glossy lips and it’s been throwing some of my friends off. Someone even asked me if I was doing okay because it’s been a while since they’d seen me in red lipstick, or lipstick at all. Outside of the fact that I have braces which seem to suck all of the moister out of my lips, making matte lipstick less than ideal for day-to-day wear. I could cope with that, I’ve simply grown away from lipstick. I’m just over crusty matte lips. I’m over liquid lipsticks. I’ve just over it all. Mark my words, This year will be the year of glossy lips. At least it will for me.

Every single lip product I’ve bought, with the exception of Selena’s lipsticks from the Mac Selena collection and a Tom Ford Lipstick, in the past six months have been lip glosses. Everything from NYX to  Dior. I’ve just fallen in love with a good gloss but by far my favorite lip gloss, is the one by Anastasia Beverly Hills. It’s the best-pigmentated lip gloss unnamed-1I’ve ever owned. It has this wonderful vanilla smell, that’s strong enough to where you can smell it but not so strong that you can taste it in your mouth or so that it makes you nausea, which is a problem I’ve run into with other scented lip glosses. The color doesn’t bleed. It’s long-lasting but it’s not thick or sticky, so it’s not going to do that thing where you pull your lips apart and there’s like strings of gloss in-between your lips. These are my top four favorite ABH lip glosses.

Fudge, Vamp, Black Cherry and Potion (top to bottom) are my favorite lip gloss shades from the ABH collection. unnamed-2I know it’s spring and everyone is about bright, soft colors. I get that, I just LOVE a good dark lip. The beautiful thing about these glosses is that they give you that shiny lips but they don’t give you butt lips. If a gloss is too glossy, pigmented, your lips can look like a butt, sorry but it really can and it’s gross. These glosses have the perfect shine. They last forever but they don’t stain when you wipe them off, which is another problem I’ve found with super pigmented glosses. It’s just the perfect amount of shine, color, and gloss.

I get all of my ABH glosses at Sephora but I know they sell them at Ulta as well. They’re only 16 dollars, which isn’t expensive at all, Dior lip glosses are 30 dollars, and though they are amazing, I prefer the ABH ones. The glosses come in three finishes, high Gloss, which is the finish of all four of the shades I mentioned, as well as metallic and shimmer. I still want to try glosses from different brands so I can have a wider collection! Leave any recommendations in the comments below.

Invest In Yourself

If all goes as planned, I should be finishing my bachelors degree at the end of the calendar year. I’ve spent the past four years just trying to figure out exactly what it is that I’m doing, who I am and all of the other fun stuff that comes along with going from a teen to an adult. The one thing that I’ve learned and have really started to put in to practice this year is investing in myself. Nothing in this world is going to happen to you simply because you want it to happen or because you happen to have a natural talent for it. Everything requires work.

Not to sound conceded but I know I’m going to be good at what I want to do. I don’t believe this because I think I’ve been bestowed a once in a lifetime gift from a higher power. I believe this because I know I’m willing to do what it takes to get to where I want to go. I’m not willing to accept no as a final answer. I was the kind of person, until very recently, where if I heard the word no, I thought it’s not meant to be and I’d move on to the next whatever.  I watched a lot of documentaries over my winter break and I realized that everyone I look up, regardless of their profession, heard the word no over and over again. The difference between them and everyone else is that they never let it deter them from what they wanted.

I’ve adopted that mentality and I’ve made more progress towards my goals in the past month then I have in the past four years. Things aren’t going to happen for me simply because I really want them to happen. You cannot simply speak things into existence. You have to invest in your goals. By investing in your goals, you are investing in yourself. Even if I don’t meet a certain goal by the time I want to, I’m not going to quit. I’m going to continue to invest in myself and my future.

Instead of thinking, well this didn’t happen so it isn’t meant to happen think, it didn’t happen because I’m not ready for this change at this moment in my life. I know that is easier to advise then follow. I know sometimes you want to cry out in frustration when you’ve worked hard but it doesn’t turn out the way you want it to. I’m not saying don’t have those emotions or reactions. Have them. It’s healthy. It’s what makes you human. I’m only saying do not wallow in that feeling. Take a self care day and wake up the next morning ready to continue your climb.

I’ve made the decision that I want to be a certain type of person and live a certain life. Nothing and no one, let alone the world no, is going to stop me from becoming that person and it shouldn’t stop you either.

Back to School!

We’re going to go back, back to school again. Have you ever seen Grease 2? I know a lot of people think that movie is cheesy but I don’t know, I kind of like it. Anyways, the opening song is completely relevant because as it always is in August, it’s back to school time. This is my last week of Summer break but I’m not doing anything wild. I’m not joking,I got braces yesterday, yes at 20 but it’s NEVER to late for straight teeth! My mouth hurts really bad though,so that’s not great but on to the more important than my ortho issues.

IMG_3891As it is back to school, I felt obligated to write out advice for school. I only have ONE piece of advice for school, well one that leads to a lot of smile pieces of advice. Get a planner and USE IT! Don’t do what I’ve been doing up until last year, buy super expensive planners that are super cute, keep them in your school bag and never use them or don’t use them on a constant basis. I literally NEVER used them or if I did, it was sporadically. Around a year ago, I started using an online and physical planner and I swear my life has been changed. I got mine from Target this year. It’s apart of the Sugar Paper LA collection. It’s simple yet it’s very pretty and has plenty of lined writing space, which I desperately need.Keeping a planner helps me clear my head when I’m feeling overwhelmed, which is super important for myself and most people. If I get overwhelmed and I’m not actively trying to face it head on, I will stop doing it. Which, I know doesn’t help at all, in fact it just makes it worst but I will get into my bed and watch Netflix, like a lot of other college students. Keeping everything organized and planned out makes it easier for me to process and keeps me motivated. Which leads to the next piece of advice!

Stay motivated! I’m kind of into motivational speaking, like TED Talks. I recently found a YouTube channel, it’s called Marie Forleo, run by Marie Forleo and she has these conversations with people who I admire, like Bryce Dallas Howard and Elizabeth Gilbert just about life. They’re not necessarily motivational but I love hearing about how far successful people have come to be who they are today. Hearing their ups and downs, the struggles they went through helps me stay motivated to keep working on who I want to become. In the words of Lana Del Rey, I believe in the person I want to become. I know it’s not going to be easy but it’ll be worth it and I’ll I have to do is push through the hard times, which I know is easier said then done.

I hope this helps motivates you this semester, I feel like I got a little bit off topic but it needs to be said, especially in relation to school. Enjoy the end of your summer and I hope you have a good semester! I hope you get all A’s and if you don’t, don’t worry! It’s just a bump in the road, again advice easier said then accepted.

Pssss. I’ll be posting about easy back to school style tricks and tips! Plus another playlist to get you up and out of bed in the morning. I know I need one before I go back.

Happy Friday!

Follow my blog with Bloglovin

It is Friday and officially the last day of the fall semester! I haven’t been blogging lately because finals and all the ‘fun’ stuff. I’ve gotten tons of stuff in the last few weeks, because if I’m being completely honest with myself,I’m a stress shopper. Over the next few weeks I’ll be writing about tons of things. From my favorite red lipsticks, to a book review and things I’ve learned about myself, life and school this past semester.

I’ve also made some huge, well maybe not huge in retrospect to everything thats going on in the world but for me and this blog, huge decisions on the direction I’m taking it. On the first of the year, I will be purchasing my domain name so you can find me at!

I’m also debating on starting a youtube channel! I have some friends who youtube and it seems like something really fun but also time consuming. The reason I’m debating it is because I want to be able to put the necessary amount of time and effort into the channel. I don’t really devote the time I would like to into the blog but I’ve hopefully set up my school and work schedule correctly for the upcoming year so I can.

I hope everyone is having a wonderful holiday season and is doing well or did well on their finals!

Back to School

This past week I went back to school and like always it’s an adjustment. I spent most of the summer working and trying to figure out what career I wanted to focus on. Now that schools back in, I’m going to start working on achieving that goal, starting with bringing up my GPA.Over the past couple of years I’ve tried different things to keep myself organized because for me personally, as soon as I get unorganized, my grades drop. For those of you that are like me and need to stay organized,  I’ve got a few tips for going back to school whether you’re in college or high school that I’ve listed below.

  1. Keep a Planner

I know this sounds obvious but it is beyond important to keep a planner. I have two, an app that’s on my computer and a physical planner. I have two because I don’t always carry my computer with me but I always carry my physical planner with me. Plus,  the more you write something down, the less likely you are to forget it. Every Sunday evening,I check my professors syllabus and fill in my online planner. Then I fill out the physical planner after each class just in case, there is a change to the syllabus which often happens.

I got my physical planner from I have one that’s pastel pink and says I’m Very Busy in rose gold foil. I love it because it’s small and doesn’t take up that much space in my school bag. They do have a larger one if that’s something you prefer that. I’ll link them below. The online planner app I use is the

MyHomework app that I got through the apple store. It lets you fill in all your class times as well as teachers and rooms. It’s like a scheduler and a planner in one.The app is also available through google play.

2.Do the assigned reading when it’s assigned.

Take it from someone who is pretty much the princess of the procrastination. You DO NOT want to stay up all night reading a book. It’s much easier to do the reading when its assigned. Netflix will be there when you’re done. I promise.

3. Go to class and take Notes

This is more of a tip for college kids then high school kids but PLEASE go to class. I know it’s hard, especially for first year students but go to class. It is very hard to pass a class if you don’t go. I know you want to hang out and explore your new-found freedom because you don’t live with your parents anymore but go to class. The ones that seem the easiest to pass are also the easiest to fail because people tend to put them on the back burner. Take notes while you’re there! You will need them to study late. You can’t get back in college by just going to class like you can in High School but it won’t work in college.

4. Never buy textbooks from the bookstore

Unless it’s one of those books that are only sold through the bookstore. Buy or rent it from an online source. I always get mine from Chegg or Amazon.Books from the bookstore are always crazy overpriced and the lines go on forever. It’s just an unnecessary hassle. Avoid it at all cost if you can.

Those are my top tips to help academically in school! Below I’ve linked a couple of helpful sites like Chegg and other places to get planners! I hope everyone is having a great time going back to school and aren’t stressed out so soon.
